You Are Not A Number On a Scale

Take heed. The era of “SKINNY AT ALL COST” is dead and that is the best news ever.

A short time ago, every diet fad fitness product that promoted EXTREME weight loss would sell millions of dollars in worthless products before being exposed. Only to go belly up once consumers realized how awful the looked and felt on these products even if they did cut a few pounds.

It was an all in game and everyone who played may have won some short term benefits… but as all gambling, you lose in the long run.

For the most part everyone on the planet now knows that there are two things you must have to look and feel amazing.

It’s simple. 1. You need a proven fitness system   2. You need a healthy nourishing diet.

We’re here today to talk about #1

There are hundreds of workouts out on the market so how do you chose which workout is best.

I’ve broken it down to 10 things every workout needs.

These are 10 essential needs that must be met. SOME OF THEM ARE MENTAL SOME ARE PHYSICAL. But trust me, without them, you’re in for long term FAILURE.

10 Ways To Know If Your Workout Is Working

  1. You Can’t Wait For The Next One – You Love It

I have a saying:
“If you don’t love your workout you’ll eventually quit and be no better off than when you started.”

Within 7 days of starting any workout, you’ll know if you like it or not. This is extremely important. If find that your workout is torture or bores the hell out of you it’s not going to last.

Here’s how to tell if you love it.
1. It lifts you up and doesn’t tear you down. You should feel energized for the rest of the day and you SHOULD NOT feel like you just got hit by a car.
2. NO NEGATIVE MOTIVATION – Your instructor is motivating without being annoying or overly douchy. You don’t need some meat head or Barbie Doll yelling at you. “Harder. Come on, don’t give up! You’re weak.” We hear enough negative reinforcement in our daily lives for this kind of negative motivation.
3. You Laugh – Don’t be afraid to have fun. An instructor is like a great girlfriend/boyfriend. A sense of humor goes a long way!

Just think of how many times you say, “Crap. I have to work out today.” What if you were on a system that made you say, “Crap. Today is a rest day but I wish I had a workout.” Big difference.

I’m the owner of The U20 System and one of the most overlooked qualities that people fail to consider when starting a workout system is SUSTAINABILITY. As humans we’re manipulated to join for “instant gratification.” Short term results are damn near worthless.

WHAT YOU SHOULD DO: Test a workout out for 7 days and don’t put any expectations past that. If you love it. Join it. If not, move on and don’t beat yourself up for “failing.”

  1. How Your Clothes Fit Your Body

You should start to see body changing results from a great workout system within the first 3 weeks. Sometimes within the first 7 days. But don’t look at the scale.

A great system should build lean muscle and burn fat. Muscle weighs more than fat so in the first month or two you may not see the scale move at all.

THE BEST WAY to tell if your body is transforming is your clothes. They should feel tighter in some places and looser in others.

WHERE YOUR CLOTHES SHOULD FEEL TIGHTER:
They should feel tighter in the thighs, back and upper arms. These muscles are the fastest to get lean.

WHERE YOUR CLOTHES SHOULD FEEL LOOSER:
Your clothes should feel looser in the waist, fatty part of the arms, the lower butt/upper thigh (cottage cheese area) and pants. And most important… the belly fat will be significantly less.

  1. Your Workout Leaves You Feeling Energized (Not Burnt Out)

Please don’t get on a workout that leaves you feeling tired and sluggish. This is your body telling you that it’s not good for you.

Mental or physical grogginess is a hallmark sign of overtraining, says nutritional biochemist Shawn M. Talbott and author of Natural Solutions for Pain-Free Living, based on his research on over-stress patterns in professional athletes. “The knee-jerk reaction to sluggishness is to exercise for an energy boost, but it’s a catch-22,” he says. “Another workout might wake you up short-term, but you’ll be worse off later on.” From 10 Signs You’re Exercising Too Much”

Instead, you should leave your workout feeling energized and ready to take on the day. That should last at least 24 hours with the right fitness system. The hormones that you are releasing should be pumping your body full of healing and reviving goodness.

  1. Your Endurance Should Be Increasing Exponentially

At The Under 20 Workout we have a one week trial that I suggest everyone start with. If you don’t see a major change in endurance in your first week you’re on the wrong system.

I’ve had members who did our first workout #101 and struggled mightily through it. Then they went back a week or so later and did it again. They couldn’t believe how easy it was after just a few days.

Even the smallest task of walking up 3 flights of stairs will become so much easier after just a week or two. This is a great sign that you’re on the right track.

Every great fitness system builds with you as you get stronger. The workout that got you huffing, puffing and sweating on your first day isn’t going to fit your strength and fitness level after a week or two.

So throw away those old repetitive DVDs that are collecting dust under your TV.

  1. Your Strength Should Increase Within Days

I’ve had members go from never being able to do 1 push-up in their whole life to being able to do 3 push ups at the end of a week and then by the end of their first month they’re doing 10 push-ups!  That’s incredible.

The push-up is the best signal that you’re getting stronger all over your body. Why? Because the push-up uses just about every muscle in the body.

Conventional knowledge would make you think that push-ups are upper body only. The truth is that it takes incredible core/ab strength to do a push-up and it also takes a good deal of leg strength.

The push-up is a great measurement of total body strength.

  1. You’re Never Injured – An injury will sabotage all fitness goals

As I sit here writing this, literally seconds ago, my nanny told me that her boyfriend was lifting weights with his friend and messed up his back. My response.

“The only thing worse than not working out is injuring yourself.”

Body weight workouts are the way to go here. Weights are completely unnatural to your body and most of the traditional weight lifting exercises are completely foreign to how your body moves. AND YOU DON’T NEED WEIGHTS TO HAVE AN AMAZING BODY.

Who has the best bodies in the world?

Boxers, sprinters and gymnasts and they never lift weights.

They use their body weight to get those fit, firm, amazing bodies. You can too.

  1. Your Diet Changes Naturally – Mini Addiction

The magical thing that happens when you start the right workout system is that your body feels great. This causes you to become addicted to feeling great. It’s a wonderful thing.

Once you start feeling great you want to feel even greater!

You start to make changes in your life to feel better in every aspect. The biggest of these changes is eating better.

Your body starts working like a well oiled machine. This is when you become INSPIRED TO EAT BETTER. You almost automatically start putting better fuel in your body.

It’s simple. You start a great workout system, you feel better. The better your body starts to look, the more you want to feed it the things it needs to look better. This begins to change your entire life. LOOKING AND FEELING BETTER BECOMES AN ADDICTION.

In addition, “Working out has been proven time and time again to help regulate mood, which has a direct effect on people who eat when they’re stressed or upset,” says Robert E. Thayer, PhD, a professor of psychology at California State University, Long Beach. Translation: When you’re already in your happy place you don’t need Ben & Jerry to lead the way. From Fitness Magazine

THE MORE YOU IMPROVE AND LOVE YOUR BODY THE MORE YOU’LL FEED IT THE BEST THINGS ON EARTH.

  1. Your Friends And Family Notice

This is one of the greatest benefits of a great workout system.

You see yourself at least 5 times a day, everyday. It may be hard to notice gradual changes.

But the great part is that your friends, co-workers and family will begin to say, “Wow. What are you doing to look so fit and healthy. It’s a wonderful feeling.

AND even better for some of us. Your enemies will notice. Ha!

  1. Your Skin Looks Incredible – HGH = The Fountain of Youth

This is a big one. When you start the right workout system, your skin will start to glow.

A speed based workout system like The U20 forces your body to release HGH (Human Growth Hormone) naturally.

What does that do?

HGH is also known as “The Fountain of Youth” hormone. It’s what is released during puberty. This perks up your entire body. It literally can reverse aging. You can pay for injections of HGH for about $10,000 a month OR you can start a great workout system. Your choice.

High-intensity interval-type training also boosts human growth hormone (HGH) production. A 2003 study published in the journal Sports Medicine found that “exercise intensity above lactate threshold and for a minimum of 10 minutes appears to elicit the greatest stimulus to the secretion of HGH.” From drmercola.com

  1. The Scale Doesn’t Measure How Great You Look and Feel… ESPECIALLY THE FIRST MONTH

A great woman once said, “The scale doesn’t measure how great you look and feel.”

I couldn’t agree more.

Like I said before, a great workout system builds firm muscle and burns unwanted fat. That’s what you should be measuring. Not some number on a scale.

If you’re on a great fitness system you may not see a change in your weight the first month. EVEN THOUGH YOUR ARE DESTROYING FAT.

Your body will build lean, fast twitch muscle in that first month and MUSCLE WEIGHS MORE THAN FAT.

That same gorgeous muscle that you are building will help you to burn fat up to 3x faster than those who train with less muscle.

I say throw your scale away and start focusing on how you look and feel but I realize that you won’t do that. Heck, I still weigh myself 5 times a day but that’s because I’m constantly researching myself.

But at least stop worrying about the scale in your first month.

YOU ARE NOT A NUMBER ON A SCALE!

So, stop being a slave to the scale. It’s not a good judge of how well your workout is working.

The most important thing to take from this workout is to FIND A WORKOUT THAT YOU LOVE AND STICK WITH IT.

The U20 System let’s you test it out for 1 week. If you love it than your search is over. If not, there are no obligations.
