1. LEAFY GREENS (SALAD) WITH CHEESE

Leafy green vegetables are loaded with vitamin K which has been shown to absorb and remember verbal instructions. (I wish I would have known this in college calculus) They also contain folate with works with vitamin B-12 to improve cognitive function.

THE PROBLEM is that greens don’t contain vitamin B-12.

THE SOLUTION is to add some cheese or an egg to your salad and get the full benefits of the folate and vitamin B-12 working together.

2. SALMON, TROUT OR TUNA salmon brain foods

DHA = MMM for your brain. Your brain absolutely loves fatty fish like salmon, trout and tuna. DHA is an omega 3 fatty acid reduces the time it takes to recall a memory. (Dang, I should have taken this before my college entrance exams)
Researchers tested 176 adults with low levels of DHA by giving them 1.16 grams of DHA (the amount found in a 3.5 ounce piece of salmon) and found just one serving made a measurable difference in memory recall.

3. CHERRY TOMATOES

Why cherry tomatoes and not the rest? The answer is in the skin.

Cherry tomatoes have more skin than beefsteak tomatoes. The key type of nutrient, carotenoids which promote long term memory are found in the skin. Lycopene is one of the most powerful carotenoids and can also boost your mood and protect you from depression. Remember that salad from earlier. Why not stack some cherry tomatoes on it.

4. BLUEBERRIES

High in antioxidants which can stop inflammation which is a major long term problems in brain function and wreak havoc on memory the blueberry should be a part of any healthy diet. These are great to keep in your freezer for smoothies or eat them fresh from your hand. Oh, and they are also incredible at trimming body fat. Have blueberries after your 20 minute workout and watch the fat melt away.

5.GREEN TEA

You know it’s good for you so do it. One study showed that those who drank green tea before a cognitive test performed significantly better than those who drank a placebo. Green tea is high in antioxidants among other things so drink it up either hot or cold. Oh, and again this is great for fat loss.
